Gov’s Chief of Staff suspended as Adamawa APC crisis deepens

For allegedly abusing elders of the party, desecrating the constitution and allegations bordering on highhandedness, the Chief of Staff to Governor Bindow Jibrilla of Adamawa State, Abdulrahman Abba Jimeta, has been suspended by the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Jimeta is one of the strong pillars of the party in the North-East state.
In fact, he worked assiduously for Jibrilla’s emergence as governor on April 11, 2015.
While announcing the suspension, the chairman of the party in Yola North Local Government, Salihu Baba Ahmed, said the party was tired of the excesses of Jimeta.
“In fact, his suspension became necessary because of his highhandedness and abuse of party’s constitution. He has been going round abusing party elders in the state, showing no respect to the entire leadership of the party”.
He insisted that Jimeta “remains suspended until party leaders decide otherwise”.
It is, however, not clear if Jibrilla approved the suspension.
But a member of the party, who is close to the Chief of Staff, described the suspension as “a waste of time”.
“They said he has been suspended. Well, let’s watch as events unfold. The man who announced the suspended, does he have the power to do that? They are just playing to the gallery. What they have done will not see the light of the day because the Chief of Staff is a strong pillar in this party. Where were they when he was building this party, which led to the emergence of the governor in 2015?”
