Gov. Bago preaches peace, unity among couples

Gov. Umaru Bago of Niger on Saturday called for sustained efforts to ensure peaceful co-existence among residents of the state.

He made the call at the wedding fathia of Masauda Sidi, daughter of his Director-General of Campaign, Alhaji Isah Sidi-Rijau.

The governor served as father of the bride at Sheikh Nafui’s Mosque, Sauka-Hauta in Minna.

Bago, who was represented by his deputy, Mr Yakubu Garba, said that peace and unity was a prerequisite for progress and development of any society and individual.

He advised the couple to live together in patience and unity.

“As our tradition in Islam, I want to advised the couple to live in peace and be patient with each other. They should love each other as well,” he said.

In his remarks, Sidi-Rijau, expressed happiness for giving out his first daughter for marriage and advised the couple to be patient, fair and be loyal to each other.

Also, Alhaji Shehu Rijau, member, representing Magama/Rijau Federal Constituency, described the father of the bride as “a brother and boss and wished the couple a happy married life.

Similarly, Alhaji Bello Bako, member representing Rijau state Constituency, advised the couple to manage themselves and be patient with one another.

Also, Alhaji Ahmed Suleiman, former Chairman of Borgu, said marriage need peace and endurance, urging the couple to be patient with one another as well manage themselves well in order to have a successful marriage.

The N100,000 was paid as dowry.
