glo_logoMajor sponsor of Nigerian National teams, Globacom has charged the national U-17 team, Golden Eaglets to be courageous and entertain no fear in their group at the forthcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup holding in the United Arab Emirates. The team is grouped alongside current champion Mexico, Iraq and Sweden in Group F in the championship.

“Be brave! Go there and fight gallantly. We believe that none of the countries in the championship can beat you; so be courageous as you file into the field in October to play for your fatherland,” Globacom encouraged the boys in a statement released in Lagos on Tuesday.

The statement noted that Golden Eaglets can win the cup if the Manu Garba-led coaching crew can put out the right strategy for the games. “We have done it before and Globacom believe Nigeria can do it again,” the statement said.

Specifically, Globacom called on the technical team of the Eaglets to work hard and put the team in the best shape to do Nigeria proud in the tournament scheduled for UAE between 17th October and 8th November, 2013. It said that as a former champion, all the countries in the world will work very hard to beat the Eaglets. “It’s not going to be easy, but we have confidence in the boys that they will not fail this great nation “, the statement said, adding “but they have to work really harder.”

“We reckon with the great fighting spirit which the team has so far demonstrated, especially in the last African youth championship in Morocco, and we believe that such spirit will help the team to achieve the ultimate goal of lifting the trophy,” Globacom added.

Nigeria will play against the reigning world champions Mexico in the first Group F Match at Al Ain Stadium on 19th of October.

The Golden Eaglets emerged runners up at the last African Youth Championship in Morocco after losing in the finals to Cote d’Ivoire.
