glo_logoFour members of the Glo Soccer Academy have arrived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on a training tour of the city, courtesy of telecommunications giants, Globacom.

The boys, Aminu Murtala (16), David Abagna (15), Daniel Abaa (16) and Bismarck Larbi (17), arrived Dubai on Saturday and commenced training immediately at the prestigious Football Academy of Dubai Sports City.

Their training is focused on the fundamentals of modern football including attacking and short passing skills after which they will be exposed to the use of team work and strategic passing style in match situations.

The boys were later incorporated into the Dubai Football Academy team which played against Baniyas Real Madrid, a youth team from another academy in Dubai city.

The Glo Soccer Academy members gave a good account of themselves to the admiration of the two teams and their officials as they scored four goals in the 8-0 victory recorded by the Football Academy of Dubai Sports City over their counterpart. David Abagna who played as the top striker scored two goals while midfielder, Daniel Abaa also scored two goals. The remaining four goals were scored by the Dubai football academy boys.

Senior Coach of Football Academy of Dubai Sports city, Carlos Garcia commended the Glo boys for their outstanding performance in the match, saying that their presence made his team stronger and contributed to the wide victory margin.

He also commended the duo of Aminu Murtala who played at the central defence and Bismark Larbi who played as the left full back. According to him, their presence solidified the defence, making it difficult for the Real Madrid side to score.

The Glo Dream Team is made up of sixteen players; (ten Nigerians, four Ghanaians and two Beninese) that emerged at the end of the academy in February, 2013.

The 16 finalists have been presented with their cheques of N1 million Naira each for 15 boys and N5 million for the Most Valuable Player, Muri Lawal.

Twelve of the boys had earlier trained at the prestigious Manchester United training schools. The training at the two world class football facilities is one of the prizes won by 16 finalists in the maiden edition of the West African Soccer TV Reality show.

The Glo Soccer Academy was organized to discover and train talented young footballers across West Africa and it was conceived to provide a once-in-a lifetime opportunity for talented footballers to kick-start their career in professional football.
