German coach, Bruno Labbadia, according to multiple sources, has rejected the Head Coach job of the Super Eagles offered to him by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
German media in the early hours of Friday revealed that there was no concrete contract signed by the NFF and Labbadia.
Authoritative sources further revealed that the NFF was banking getting the deal done on Friday but this never materialised as at the time of filing this report (9pm Nigerian time).
Sources added that the German was irked about the speed in which the NFF released names of players for the two crucial Nations Cup qualifiers against Benin on September 7 in Uyo and Rwanda in Kigali on September 10.
The NFF released a 23-man list of the Super Eagles for the two games just few hours after naming Labbadia as the Eagles Manager.
Also yesterday, a Nigerian journalist, Shina Okeleji, on his X handle wrote: “Nigeria hoping to finalise contractual details with German coach Bruno Labbadia on Friday to enable him travel to Uyo and take charge of the Super Eagles in AFCON qualifying fixtures v Benin & Rwanda. Desperate NFF announced Labbadia’s appointment without sorting T&C & contract.”
All efforts to get the image make of the federation Ademola Olajire to react to the development was not successful as his mobile telephone rang out.
The NFF is left with yet another decision to make about who leads the Super Eagles out against Benin and Rwanda in the forthcoming AFCON qualifiers.
