‎Chief Gyang Buba, the Gbong Gwom Jos and Chairman, Plateau State Council of Chiefs, has lamented the non-arrest of killers of Chief Lazarus Agai, the first class traditional ruler of Ron-Kulere in Bokkos Local Government of the state.
Agai was killed by gunmen on his way from his farm in July, 2016.
His assailants had not been apprehended, in spite of promises by successive Police Commissoners in the North-Central state.
Gyang, who spoke on the development when President Muhamadu Buhari paid him a courtesy call at his palace in Jos on Thursday, regretted that none of the killers had been apprehended.
He also lamented that no one had been arrested over the pockets of killings in Bassa, Riyom, Miango and other parts of Plateau, describing the situation as “quite disheartening”.
‎Buba appealed to Buhari to take a critical look at the situation with a view to apprehending and prosecuting the perpetrators to serve as a deterrent to others.
He further lamented that security issues were being politicized and advised politicians to desist from interfering in security issues.
Buba appealed for the resuscitation of dams in the country to minimise land encroachment issues.
In his response, the president assured the Gbong Gwom that all the issues raised would be looked into.
He called on traditional rulers to sensitize their people on the importance of peace, noting that no development could be achieved in a chaotic environment.
Buhari is in Plateau on a two-day working visit.
The visit is the first by the president since he assumed office in 2015.
