Three Nigerians injured in fresh xenophobic attacks in South Africa

South African Police

Police on Monday reported that a group of armed gangsters attacked the police station of Malamulele in South Africa’s Limpopo province.

According to police reports, the gunmen took rifles, pistols as well as an unknown quantity of ammunition, and forced some of the officers into one of their official car usually used to transport detainees.

The group of men then drove to a neighbouring industrial region, where they robbed a petrol station and a fast-food restaurant.

The police have launched a large-scale search for the perpetrators.

The South African police service registered an exceptionally high increase in violent crimes over the past quarter, according to statistics released last week.

There were more than 6,100 murders and homicides between July and September, an increase of 20.7 per cent compared to the same period last year.
