Owo clash: OPC petitions Commissioner of Police

OPC

Coordinator of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) in Kwara State, Comrade Ganiyu Oladipupo, said Fulani Herdsmen are behind the recent attacks in the state, warning bandits to stay away from the state
or risk facing the wrath of the law.

Oladipupo, while calling the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Amienbo Tuesday Assayomo, to investigate the crisis in the state, saying the group would not allow bandits take over the state.

Speaking against the backdrop of the recent attack on Comrade Raimi Saadu, a member of the OPC in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state, Oladipupo said reports at his disposal indicated that four suspected herdsmen attacked the OPC member in his farm, very close to Maternity Hospital, at Koko town, in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.

The Kwara State OPC chieftain bemoaned the attack, insisting that it is the duty of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to ensure effective security across the state.

“Comrade Raimi Saadu was attacked last Thursday in his farm by four suspected herdsmen.

“He was left in the pool of his blood by his attackers and he is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in the state.

“I urge the Kwara State police authorities to improve the security and surveillance arrangements in the state. The attack on one of our members was largely a case of herdsmen attack and I am sending a note of warning to these killer herdsmen, kidnappers and bandits to stay away from the state or risk being apprehended.

“I am using this opportunity to urge the Kwara state commissioner of police to embark on a thorough investigation to apprehend those behind the criminal acts,” he said.
