NLC TUC

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), on Monday night, suspended proposed nationwide strike action against the removal of fuel subsidy payment by the Federal Government.
NLC

The decision was announced in Abuja after a meeting by NLC and TUC leaders with the Federal Government delegation.
The strike was scheduled for Wednesday.
The labour leaders and government team will meet again on June 19 for further discussion on the matter.

It was also agreed that NLC, TUC and the FG will establish a joint committee to review proposed increment of minimum wage.
Petrol

A litre of petrol is now between N480 and N570, depending on the location.
Earlier, the National Industrial Court (NIC) in Abuja had restrained NLC and TUC from embarking on the strike action.
The order, given by Justice O.Y. Anuwe, followed the filing of a suit (NICN/ABJ/158/2023) by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Attorney-General of the Federation against NLC and TUC.
Court

The Judge restrained workers from embarking on the planned industrial action/or strike of any nature, pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.
The Motion on Notice was fixed for hearing on June 19.
