Fubara Warns New Appointees Against Misconduct, Unauthorised Meetings

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has cautioned newly appointed government officials against engaging in misconduct or holding unauthorised late-night meetings that could embarrass the state administration.

The governor issued the warning shortly after swearing in Dr. Dagogo Wokoma as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Mr. Sunny Ewule as Chief of Staff (CoS) in Port Harcourt.

Fubara stated that any behaviour capable of undermining the integrity of his administration would result in immediate dismissal. He described their appointments as a call to public service, not an avenue for political showmanship or personal ambition, and urged them to demonstrate integrity, discipline and commitment to the public good.

The governor expressed confidence in Wokoma’s academic background and intellectual capacity, charging him to discharge his responsibilities with professionalism and to support the effective execution of ongoing development projects across the state.

Addressing the Chief of Staff, Fubara emphasised the importance of administrative coordination, proper management of official engagements, and safeguarding the image of the Government House. He directed Ewule to operate strictly within the scope of his office and avoid independent political activities or private strategy meetings without approval.

The governor also instructed permanent secretaries who have reached retirement age to prepare their handover notes promptly. He reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on financial misconduct, noting that accountability mechanisms were in place to monitor compliance.
