The Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori; Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara; and Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, have been named among other winners of the 2025 New Telegraph Newspapers Man of the Year Awards.
The list of the winners was published by New Telegraph, a national daily newspaper published in Nigeria.
The award recognised public office holders, institutions, and corporate organisations across governance, finance, regulation, energy, and sports.
The Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, received Governor of the Year, while the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was named Governor of the Year (Innovations).
The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, won Governor of the Year (Education), while the Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu, was named Governor of the Year (Human Capital Development).
The Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, emerged Governor of the Year (Projects).
The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, clinched the Governor of the Year (Digital Economy and Skill Development), while Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, was honoured as Governor of the Year (Infrastructure).
Tunji-Ojo was bestowed with the Visionary Leader and Innovation Award.
In the financial sector, Zenith Bank Plc was named Financial Institution of the Year, while its Managing Director, Dame Adaora Umeoji, received Banker of the Year.
Fidelity Bank Plc won Bank of the Year (SME Support), and Providus Bank was recognised for Deal of the Year.
Other recipients included the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) as Regulatory Agency of the Year.
The Lagos Free Trade Zone emerged as Fastest Growing Free Zone, and the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) received a Special Recognition Award for stellar performance in asset recovery.
In the oil and gas sector, Dr. Julius Rone emerged Personality of the Year (Oil and Gas), while First Exploration and Production was named Indigenous Oil and Gas Company of the Year.
Chevron Nigeria Limited received Outstanding Company of the Year (Community Development/PIA Compliance).
Lifetime and special honours went to Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Former militant commander, Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) was also named as Personality of the Year (Security) in recognition of his role in oil and pipeline security.
In sports, DβTigress and Super Falcons received Special Recognition Awards, while Bukola Olapade was named Sports Administrator of the Year.
