Boat Mishap

Four women and five children were killed after a boat carrying migrants sank off Turkey’s north-western coast in the Aegean Sea, the Coastguard said on Friday.
According to the coastguard in a statement, the boat capsised off Turkish coastal town, Ayvalik, close to Greek Island of Lesbos, where five people – woman, child and three men – were rescued.
There was no immediate information on the nationality of the migrants.
Based on statements from those rescued, the coastguard said that the boat was believed to be carrying 17 people.
The search was ongoing for two migrants and a suspected trafficker.
Migrants continued to use Turkey as a departure point as they try to reach European Union-member state, Greece.
In 2016, the EU and Ankara reached an agreement to limit the flow of migrants in exchange for financial aid for refugees in Turkey.
Turkey hosts four million refugees and no fewer than 3.6 million are from Syria.
