Foundation distributes food items to flood victims in Bayelsa

A Non-Governmental Organizations, ActionAid Nigeria in collaboration with Mac Jim Foundation, has donated food and non food items to flood victims in Otuoke, in Ogbia Local Government Areas of Bayelsa.
This is to cushion the effects of the recent flood disaster in the area.
The Logistics Advisor ActionAid Nigeria,  Mr Goodluck Omoh, led the distribution of the materials in Otuoke on Friday.
He said it was part of the foundation’s effort to support flood victims.
The items distributed are 10kg of rice, Indomie noodles, wrapper, detergents, salt, Maggi, bathing soup, vegetable oil, among others.
Omoh, commiserated with the victims for their losses and assured them of the Foundation’s commitment to their welfare.
He said ActionAid deem it fit to step in as 90 per cent of Bayelsa was submerged with flood water.
“In Otuoke here so many places are flooded even the former President house is also, if you go around the town you will see things for yourself.
“Actionaid has commission five million Naira to support 140 household here in Bayelsa.
“Here in Otuoke we have 30 beneficiaries, while in Yenagoa Local Government Area, we have 80 beneficiaries, in Sagbama LGA, we have 40 beneficiaries.
“All the items are shared accordingly to the beneficiaries everybody is happy for what they got from our NGO,” he said.
On his part, Mr Emmanuel Egede, the Community Development Committee Chairman, commended the foundation for coming to the aid of Otuoke community.
He called on relevant government agencies and political leaders to address the ravaging floods as a matter of urgent national importance.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Irene Obodo, thanked the foundation for coming to their aid and called for divine intervention to the disaster.
