Five upcoming blockbusters you should be seeing

Terminator

With ‘Avengers: Endgame’ seemingly loosening its months-long chokehold on the box office, it’s finally time for other movies to step up and take over the blockbuster position. But which ones are going to be worth seeing as we move into the latter half of 2019? It’s that question that we’ve gone ahead and set out to answer today. So join us as we cover five of remaining 2019 films with legitimate blockbuster potential.

‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’

Spider Man

Well, you didn’t think Marvel was done, did you? Right on the heels of what will likely be the most successful movie of all time financially (‘Endgame,’ that is), Spider-Man will be web-slinging his way back into theaters for his second solo MCU outing.
Touted as an epilogue for ‘Endgame,’ chances are that Spidey’s new film will end up previewing what’s lined up next for the MCU. So if you’re at all interested in what Marvel will be getting up to next – or you just love your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – ‘Far From Home’ should be right up your alley.

‘Joker’

Joker

What a weird time it is in the movie industry that we’re getting a DC movie in which the Joker is the protagonist and Batman himself is seemingly nowhere in sight! With Robert Pattinson destined to portray the Dark Knight in a different film, many fans have their hopes pinned on the rather… unique-looking Joker film to keep the darker DCU tone afloat. Will the crazed clown prince’s solo film stack up to DC’s better offerings, like ‘Shazam’ and ‘Wonder Woman?’ Or will we get a repeat of the disaster that was ‘Suicide Squad?’ With Joaquin Phoenix in the titular role there’s some hope for the former, but either way we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out!

‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’

Star Wars

The conclusion to Disney’s new trilogy of ‘Star Wars’ flicks is due out at the end of this year, and if there’s any 2019 film that could manage a success anywhere near the level of ‘Endgame,’ it’ll be this one. Given how much ‘The Last Jedi’ shook up the series, there’s no telling how the saga will come to a close. But if you have even a passing interest in the franchise, you should absolutely make a trip out to your local theater to see this one through to the end (and find out just how the heck Emperor Palpatine managed to survive the original films). Rey, Poe, and of course BB-8 will all be along for the ride, so at the very least this should be a fun one.

‘Ford vs. Ferrari’

Ford Ferrari

Ford vs. Ferrari is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and interesting docu-dramas in recent memory. These days when we think of major car manufacturers in competition, we think of the globe-spanning Formula 1 circuit. The courses are stunning, the activity is enthralling, the drivers are celebrities, and there are whole F1 betting markets that fans around the world attach themselves to the sport with. Before this glamorous modern racing scene and all its celebrities and online betting took shape though, 24 Hours of Le Mans was one of the most prestigious racing events in the world, particularly for major manufacturers. This film will tell the tale of the event in 1966, and Ford’s quest to take down Ferrari – and it will do so behind the serious movie-star charisma of dueling leads Matt Damon and Christian Bale! If there’s a non-genre film or -franchise installment that’s going to be a 2019 blockbuster, this may be it.

‘Terminator: Dark Fate’

Terminator

Linda Hamilton is back as Sarah Connor; if that alone isn’t enough to get you back in the seats for this new entry into the Terminator franchise, nothing will be. Billed by director James Cameron as the “true sequel” to the original duology of ‘Terminator’ films, it will hopefully represent a return to form regarding the series’ quality as well. With ‘Salvation’ having amounted to a horribly-regarded attempt at a John Connor film, and ‘Genisys’ having earned only mixed reviews, the franchise could use a boost if it’s to endure. Hamilton’s presence offers a beacon of hope that ‘Dark Fate’ could just provide that boost, and help the ‘Terminator’ franchise rise from its own ashes.
