Filling station manager bolts with N2.1m

A filling station manager in Ilorin, Kwara State, AbdulRahman Maruf, is facing trial at an Ilorin Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing his employer’s N2.1 million.
The accused, Maruf, 38, whose address was not provided, is charged with a two-count offence of criminal breach of trust and theft.
The prosecutor, Inspector Nasiru Yusuf, told the court that the accused committed the offences sometime in October, 2014 at Malway Filling Station in Sango area of Ilorin.
According to him, the accused sold 22, 000 litres of petrol valued at N2.1 million and appropriated the money, property of the complainant, Alhaji AbdulKareem Sanni.
He urged the court to remand the accused in prison pending the conclusion of investigations.
The offences contravened Sections 289 and 312 of the Penal Code, Laws of the Federation.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Mohammed Ibrahim granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 and two sureties in like sum.
Further hearing in the case has been adjourned to July 23.
