A former Super Eagles Coach, Sunday Oliseh, has said that the board members of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) should resign en-masse if the senior national team fails to pick a ticket to the forthcoming FIFA World Cup.
Eagles are currently in the fourth position in a group of six with Nigeria’s fate hanging because South Africa currently tops the group with 13 points.
Oliseh said after the failure to qualify for the last World Cup in Qatar, the Eagles are sentenced to qualify for the 2026 event holding in the USA, Mexico and Canada.
He argued that it was important for the football authorities to do all it takes for the team to still pick the ticket because failure means the administrators have also failed.
Oliseh said: “As an administration, failure to qualify for two consecutive World Cup tournaments that is worth hundreds of billions is a big loss to the country’s football economy. There is nowhere you will go that the whole sports administrators won’t be bitter. It’s up to us to decide if we want to continue like this. They have no reason to be in office if we fail to qualify again.”
“Let’s just be aware that every four years that we don’t qualify for the World Cup, your football goes back eight years. Although, I still believe we can qualify but it will be hard.
“We have to do something drastic. You can’t keep driving the same way towards Badagry and expect to find yourself in Sokoto. It cannot happen.”
