After a victorious World Cup qualifying campaign last weekend, Nigeria moves up ten places on the latest FIFA rankings from 60th to 50th, overtaking Ghana, Cameron, Mali and Congo to sit seventh in Africa.
Nigeria, however, shares the 50th position (joint 7th in Africa) with fellow West Africans, Burkina Faso, who also enjoyed a fine World Cup qualification weekend.
According to the rankings soon to be released, Algeria who were thrashed by Nigeria’s Super Eagles in the World Cup Qualifiers, will drop three places to 38th in the world & 5th in Africa, while Senegal are now Africa’s no 1, toppling Cote D’Ivoire.
Argentina will remain unchanged at World number 1 but Brazil will topple Germany to number 2 spot, while Chile moves up three places to 4th position behind the Germans.
Belgium, Columbia, France, Portugal, Uruguay & Spain (5th -10th) will complete the world’s top 10 in that order.
