In the spirit of giving and spreading joy, Feedthestreet Human Development Foundation recently embarked on an outreach to bring some cheer to the young patients at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) Idi Araba, Lagos.
The New Year’s Day outreach, which took place on January 1, 2024, aimed to celebrate the festive season with children who were unable to celebrate it with their families due to their challenging circumstances.
The outreach team visited six different wards, including Ward E3, Ward D2, Children Oncology, Neo-Natal Unit, Alima Atta Oncology Ward, and Children Emergency. They extended their gratitude by donating essential toiletries and boxed packaged food items to the dedicated nurses and doctors on duty, recognizing their tireless efforts in providing care and support to these young patients.
Likewise, the team also presented gift packs to the children in the wards, bringing smiles to their faces and lifting their spirits.
Feedthestreet Human Development Foundation is committed to serving and making positive impact in people’s lives.
However, the spirit of this outreach was one of compassion, kindness, and generosity. The team members showed immense empathy towards the children in the wards, taking time to interact with them and making them feel loved and valued. They also showed gratitude by acknowledging the role the medical staff plays in the lives of these children.
A Chief Nursing Officer who coordinated the day’s activity, Ukaegbu C., shared her thoughts on the outreach: “We believe that every child deserves to celebrate the festive season with their families, but unfortunately, some are unable to do so due to illness. This act of love will bring some joy and happiness into their lives during this period.”
Also, the Deputy Director Nursing Services (LUTH), Mrs. Ojie Sarat added: “What your team has done today shows these children that they are not alone and that there are people who care about them. We hope that this outreach will bring some comfort and hope into their lives.”
Feedthestreet Human Development Foundation also brought smiles and hope to the Alima Atta Oncology Ward LUTH Idi Araba, Lagos, during their recent outreach.
The impact of this outreach did not end within the hospital walls. The team also visited the streets of Ojuelegba and distributed gift packs to children. In addition, the event not only brought joy and laughter to the children but also created a sense of unity amongst the outreach team, inspiring them to continue making a positive impact in the lives of others.
