Gunmen have assassinated Mr Solomon Sani, Director of Works, Federal Polytechnic, Idah, Kogi State.

Kogi Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP William Aya, told newsmen in Lokoja that Sani was assassinated in his Idah residence in the evening of Tuesday.

He said that one of the brothers of the late director reported the incident to the police in Idah immediately after the gruesome murder.

Aya said that a police team was dispatched to the scene, adding that investigation is ongoing while the assailants were being trailed.

It was gathered that the incident had thrown the entire polytechnic community into mourning as the late Sani was just promoted to the position of director of works.

The police also stated that the kidnapped Obaro of Jakura town in Lokoja Local Government Area, Alhaji Usman Ajibola, was  yet to be released by his abductors.

The monarch was kidnapped about 6:30 p.m. of July 17, alongside his driver, Mr Raphael Elijah.

The monarch’s first son, Mr Rasheed Ajibola, was shot dead by the kidnappers. The ruler was returning to his domain from Lokoja when he was accosted by the five-man kidnap gang.
