Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, has said government will soon announce names of principal officers for the newly-established Federal Polytechnic in Ile-Oluji, the headquarters of Ile-Oluji/Oke -Igbo Local Government Area of the state.
Mimiko made the appeal at the palace of Jegun of Ile-Oluji, Oba Stephen Adedugbe, during his homage to the monarch before proceeding for the PDP campaign rally ground in the local government.
Mimiko explained that he has not relented in his effort to ensure the quick take-off of the polytechnic, stressing that he has continued to receive assurances from President Goodluck Jonathan and the Minister of Education, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, that principal officers of the institution would be made known in a couple of weeks.
The governor, who is also the campaign coordinator for Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation in the South-West, however, cautioned the people of the area not to listen to the lies of some disgruntled elements that never wished the community well by spreading false news about the polytechnic.
Mimiko described Jonathan as a man of integrity who will not deny any part of the country what will advance the course of its people, particularly in the area of education which, he said, is so paramount to his administration.
Speaking at the rally in Ile-Oluji, Mimiko informed the people of the council area to vote enmasse for Jonathan and all the candidates of the PDP to reciprocate his gesture and love for the entire people of Ondo State.
The governor and the campaign train were also at Bolorunduro, the headquaters of Ondo East Local Government to solicit support for Jonathan’s re-election and votes for PDP candidates in the area.
According to him, the quantum of votes will determine the expectation of the state from the Federal Government when Jonathan is re-elected.
He said: “It is very clear that Mr President has demonstrated the fact that he knows what he is doing, rail system is now working in this country after 30 years. There is increased access to tertiary education in this country today. In spite of the various challenges confronting his administration, President Jonathan has remained focus and he is working for the country”.
