Fayose warns civil servants against partisan politics

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State has warned civil servants in the state against involvement in partisan politics, saying that those found culpable will be made to face the consequences.
Fayose handed down the warning while addressing the public servants on Grade level 01-17 at the State’s Pavilion, Ado-Ekiti, on Tuesday.
He said civil servants, by their training and orientation, had no business in party politics, adding that workers’ partisanship in politics had the tendency of destroying the entire service.
According to him, there is no crime in a particular civil servant having sympathy for one political party or the other or voting in an election, explaining that such a scenario will turn out to be something else when it is done to the extreme.
He said his government had no plan to politicise the civil service and urged the workers to also keep off partisan politics in their own interest.
“I am not going to politicise the Ekiti civil service and any civil servant found contravening this basic rule will be disciplined accordingly.
“As far as I am concerned, I don’t want to use politics to destabilise the public service and so, it will be strange if any of you is encouraging what we are not promoting.”
The governor solicited the support of the civil servants in providing steady engine room for his administration to succeed and pledged to always reward hard work, dedication and commitment to service.
He decried the current huge debt profile of the state government and solicited the support and understanding of the civil servants to enable the state government liquidate the debt.
In his remarks, the Head of Service, Dr. Gbenga Faseluka, commended the civil servants for their perseverance and resilience in the face of challenges facing them.
He called on them to appreciate the efforts of the state government in addressing their plights through loyalty and dedication in the discharge of their duties.
