Fayemi celebrates one year in office, lays foundations for Obas’ Chambers, Justice Ministry

Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, on Tuesday, laid the foundation for the Ministry of Justice office complex and the Traditional Council Chambers as part of activities marking his one year in office.
The governor assured the state civil servants of his administration’s commitment to enhancing their productivity by providing a conducive working environment for them.
He also promised to complete all abandoned the buildings in the state secretariat complex, just as he expressed appreciation to all the civil servants for their contributions and dedication to duties.
According to him, such support and cooperation have aided the socio-economic growth of the state in the last one year.
Fayemi, while performing the turning of the sod for the two buildings, stated that the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) office complex and that of the Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) were part of his administration’s priorities.
He commended the state Ministry of Justice for its drive to ensure that cases were dispensed without delay and by ensuring that it was ever active and prompt in providing rapid and systematic interpretation of government policies.
The governor said that his administration had embarked on what he called legacy project to ensure a befitting edifice for the ministry to enhance its performance.
He added that the ministry, which had once been neglected and relegated, had now become a bride being sought after nationally.
Fayemi added: “As a government, we understand and appreciate the importance of good, conducive and comfortable working environment as a prerequisite for enhancing performance and bringing the best out of every worker.
“We are committed to the welfare of all civil servants in Ekiti State, and I reassure you all that your welfare will continue to be our paramount interest.
“We appreciate your contributions and dedication to duties, and we will continue to do our best to inspire you to perform better.
“Any responsible government that wants efficiency and effectiveness from its workforce must provide a conducive working atmosphere for them.
“This is just one of the several other steps being mapped out to strengthen our workforce. One after the other, we shall meet and cater for the needs of all our ministries, departments and agencies.
“During the next fiscal year, we will embark on projects aimed at providing new accommodation to SUBEB, LGSC and complete two structures in the secretariat
“I enjoin you all to be patient with the government as we continue to manage our limited resources in the best interest of all.
The governor also urged the traditional rulers in the state to reciprocate government’s gesture by ensuring that they maintained peace and security in their respective domains.
He said government was moved to constructing a befitting traditional council chamber that would provide an enabling environment for the official activities of the royal fathers.
Fayemi said that the new chamber would replace the old one which had been in use since the creation of the state in 1996 and had since become inadequate.
He explained that his administration placed high premium on the welfare of the traditional rulers and assured them that he would do everything within the available resources to ensure that they were comfortable.
“It is important to restate that the traditional institution of kingship in our society, regardless of the advent of modernisation, remains a rallying point for the generality of our people,” he said.
