The family of Enugu-born bar owner, Mr Chukwuma Uzochukwu, murdered in Abuja last Saturday, has called on the Police to fish out the killers of their son and bring them to book.

Chukwuma, a native of Umuagwu, Umualugwa, Adu Achi in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State, was the owner of Mighty Exotic Bar in Wumba area of Apo Village, Abuja.

Sister to the deceased, Ginika Uzochukwu, who confirmed that her late brother was attacked and killed by unknown persons who stormed his bar, said: “Some group of boys came to his shop and killed him. He just stepped out and on his way coming back, not far from his shop they blocked him asking if he was Chukwuma, he tried to deny but they started beating him.

“They used machete on him; shot in the air to scare people away, before they murdered him.

“They were shouting thief, I was among the first to get to where they left him, but I didn’t recognize him. It was one of his friends that came to me and said, its your brother o.

“I rushed and the boys around helped and we carried him to a nearby hospital, but he was already dead.

Ginika said that the deceased was taken to various morgues in Abuja but was rejected due to lack of space leaving the family with no other option than to convey the corpse to the village.

She said that the matter was reported to the Police, Apo Division but nothing has come out of it.

The Abuja Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Anjugiri Jesse Manza , reportedly, said investigation is still in progress.

The family of the deceased, therefore, appealed to the Inspector General of Police to intervene and ensure that the culprits were brought to book.
