The International Council on Archives (ICA) declared June 9 of every year as the International Archives Day (IAD) to sensitise the global community on the importance of records and archives to human an societal development.
In sustenance of The Lagos State Records & Archives Bureau (LASRAB) tradition as the first and only institution in Nigeria that observes with the global community the IAD when it did so on 9th June, 2011, the Bureau is set for the Y2016 IAD celebration.
This year’s celebration, which is the fifth in the series, is scheduled for Thursday, 9th June, 2016 at the Memorable Gathering Event Centre, CBD, Alausa, Ikeja.
The theme of the Y2016 edition of the IAD is “Corruption and Security Challenges in Nigeria – The Place of Records and Archives Management.”
Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), the renowned lawyer and human rights activist, shall be the Lead Speaker on the theme.
Selected panellists will further discuss the subject.
These include Dr Abiola Abioye, Lecturer, Department of Library, Archives, Records and Information Science, University of Ibadan; Mrs Grace Oyebo, Head, Document and Information Management, First Bank of Nigeria Plc.; Mr Sam Omatseye, Chairman, Editorial Board, The Nation Newspaper and representatives of relevant government agencies.
Professor Ayodeji Olukoju, Professor of History and former Vice Chancellor, Caleb University, Imota will moderate the panel discussion session.
