Falae: I slept on the floor for four days

Four days after he was abducted from his Ilado farm in Akure, Ondo State, National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Chief Olu Falae, on Thursday, relived his ordeal in the hands of the kidnappers.
Describing them as highly sophisticated, he revealed that he was moved to many locations because the abductors wanted to avoid security agents.
The former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), who wore a white lace material and blue cap, also declared that he suspected the kidnappers were part of a syndicate using money realised from abductions to fund Boko Haram activities.
Accompanied by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, to his Akure home, Falae said when he was abducted, himself and his abductors trekked from his farm to a place near Owo, a distance of about 30 kilometres.
“I slept on the bare floor for four days. I did not sleep in one location during the four days. I was being moved from one location to another to avoid being caught by law enforcement agents.
“The kidnappers were always abreast of media reports and were moving me from one location to another within hours. All the rains that fell during the four days caught me in the deep bush.
“I have a feeling that the kidnappers are using the money realised from the various heinous crimes to fund the activities of Boko Haram because they told me that the N2 million being offered by my family was not enough to do anything”.
Arase declared that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) would not rest until criminals are flushed from the country.
“Security challenge like this is a new trend, it is not only localised in Nigeria, but it is a global thing. We are going to develop a strategy that hoodlums will never overwhelm a state. It is not possible, we are going to interdict them, we are going to degrade them and catch them”.
He, however, did not disclose if ransom was paid before Falae was released.
Governor Olusegun Mimiko expressed his happiness over the release of the septuagenarian politician.
