Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo, on Thursday, flagged-off the monthly prayers against insecurity, organised by the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) , Enugu Diocese led by the president, Jiuliet Ani, with a call on them to get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) , as their “bullet” for the 2023 general election.

Speaking at the event held at the Catholic Women Organisation Centre, Nazareth House, Enugu, after the prayer session of the Rosary and praises, Ezeilo thanked the group for their prayers ,saying ,”We thank you for your support to the government. We thank you for being there with us in all seasons, above all, we thank you for your prayers, hence, today I call you kneeling mums.

“Prayer is one of the most important weapons of mothers and it is the only spiritual armoury that we have. It is one mighty weapon, every mother must be armed with to forestall all forms of invasion against their homes. I want you to make reference to Lamentation 2 verse 19. Prayers change situation and a kneeling mother turns around situations. ”

She said that parents should live prayerful lives to be able to train their children in the way of the Lord, quoting the Bible passage,”Train up a child in the way he should go and when he grows he will not depart from.it.”

Ezeilo said further: “Our role is also beyond the family. Women are also in medicine, education, economic, politics and other sectors.”Today, Enugu state has a woman as the Deputy Governor. We have a woman as the commissioner for finance, Commissioner for Inter- ministerial , Commissioner for Gender Affairs, SPA, SSA,SA. We can only achieve that if we have our bullets.”

“Our bullet is our permanent voters card.I want women to be the ambassadors of voter’s card. I beg you to reach out to our husbands, children, and neighbours to go and register. With that we can say whom we want, or whom we did not want..

” In the 2019 general election, Enugu state women had the highest number of registered voters ,followed by youths. I want us to keep the lead. I want you to continue to support Enugu state government, to participate in the registration and collection of voter’s card, to be the eye of our children, as long as politics and other secular activities are concerned .I have here some caps with the inscription, Get your PVC and am handing it over to the CWO president. Am pleading that you take t home and be the ambassadors of get your PVC. It is the only bullet we have to say whom we want and do not want”” Ezeilo said.

The Deputy Governor, who was decorated with the CWO uniform as the Patron of the Catholic Women Organization, Enugu Diocese , thanked the group for the honour done her.
