Ezeilo charges women on voter education, PVC

Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo, has called on women to play active role in politics by engaging in continuous voter-education, mobilisation of eligible voters to acquire their Permanent Voters Card (PVC), now that the 2023 general election is fast approaching, saying that “PVC is the bullet of voters in a true democracy”.

She made the call on Wednesday, when she received in audience, the newly inaugurated Executive Council of the Enugu Diocesan Catholic Women Organisation (CWO), who paid her a courtesy visit in her office.

Ezeilo noted that “CWO must play a key role in seeing that the forthcoming and future elections have outcomes that can guarantee the survival, security and continuing prosperity of the church of Christ in Nigeria.”
She urged the women to be good ambassadors in their homes, the state and the society in general.

The Deputy Governor thanked the women for their prayers, support to Enugu state government.
She said: “The CWO is clearly in a vintage position to collaborate with the state government in achieving the nobel goals of its various legislations and policy stances on gender-based violence , family planning, girl-child education and development economic empowerment of women and the family, as well as women and child rights”.

She congratulated the new executives for their successful election and inuaguration, urging them to perform their duties to the glory of God.

Earlier, the President of the Enugu Diocesan Catholic Women Organisation, Ezinne Juliet Ani, who led the group, informed the Deputy Governor that the CWO had chosen her (Ezeilo) as their patroness. She expressed satisfaction with the numerous infrastructural development and peace in Enugu state and pledged the support of the group to the state government .

Members who accompanied the president were the Vice President, Uche Eze; the Secretary, Prisca Ozonnadi and the Public Ralation’s Officer Franca Okafor among others.
