Stakeholders have converged at  Petersburg, Russia for the Russia–Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum 2023 to discuss logistics to increase trade and economic turnover between Russia and Africa.

Ruslan Davydov, Acting Head of the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation said this on Tuesday in St Petersburg, said that central to factors that increase trade was logistics.

According to him, many factors are involved in an increase in trade and economic turnover between Russia and Africa but central to all is logistics.

Davydov said that passengers and cargo transportation had a significant impact on the development of cooperation in the widest range of spheres, from tourism to the real economy.

He said that Russian experience creating large scale multi-lateral projects was extensive.

Davydov identified one of them to be the international North-South transportation corridor, which involves 12 nations.

“A fundamental redistribution of trade flows to the East and South are taking place right now and the outlook for Africa is good,’’ says Davydov.

He said that cargo traffic through the NSTC is projected to reach 41 million tones by 2030.

Participants of the panel discussion would look at the problems related to the establishment of logistical routes between Russia and Africa.

They are to also answer questions about how to build a more efficient system of logistics flows to ensure trade and economic turnover between Russia and Africa continue to grow.

The Russia–Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum 2023 is scheduled for Thursday and Friday in St Petersburg, Russia
