Ex-students of Holy Child Secondary School, Afikpo donate computer sets, pay WAEC fees

Former Students of Holy Child Secondary School, Afikpo under the aegis of Holy Child Alumni Association have donated 22 computer sets to their Alma Mater to assist the school in its quest to deliver quality education in a technologically advanced World.

Donating the items to the School, the International President of Holy Child Alumni Association Afikpo, Ms. Regina Okoroafor, who led other officers and members of the Association to Holy Child Secondary School, Afikpo, disclosed that the gesture was borne out of their desire to give back to the Secondary School that made them what they are today.

Ms. Okoroafor, who recalled memories of her school days with nostalgia, observed that the school has recorded tremendous progress since her set passed out and commended the Governor David Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State; Ministry of Education; Secondary Education Board; Principal; Teachers and PTA of the School for their various inputs that have given the School a facelift in all ramifications.

The International President of the Association, who identied Education as a master key to a glorious and better future, announced the payment of WAEC fees for four Students of the School in this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination,WASSCE.

Ms. Okoroafor, while encouraging Students of Holy Child Secondary School Afikpo to be focused and study hard to excel in all facets of life, assured them that Holy Child Alumni Association under her watch shall from time to time visit to identify other areas of need for prompt action.

Earlier in an address, the Principal, Mrs. Nelly Nwakaego Ude, who expressed joy that such gesture from the Old Girls of the school was coming in her time as Principal, appreciated them for remembering their Alma Mater and their thoughtfulness in giving back to the School that contributed in making them responsible human beings.

In a remark, the Secretary of Ebonyi State Secondary Education Board, Lady Franca Egwu, commended the Leadership and members of Holy Child Alumni Association Afikpo for their love for their alma Mater which they have demonstrated and encouraged former students of different Secondary Schools in the State to assist the crop of learners in their former schools as a way of complementing the great efforts of Umahi in the Education Sector.

Lady Egwu, who applauded Umahi for creating the enabling environment for effective Teaching and learning in the State, implored all Principals,Teachers and other critical Stakeholders in the Education System to join hands with Ebonyi State Government to secure the future of Ebonyi Youths through quality Education.

In a goodwill message, the Priest in charge of All Saints Catholic Church, Ugwuegwu, Rev. Father Jude Otu Onwa, who prayed for God’s blessings on the members of Holy Child Alumni Association Afikpo for the gift to their Alma Mater, also announced that he will pay the WAEC fees of one Precious Ugomma Ibe, an SS 3A students of the School who thrilled the audience with a scintillating rendition

The event marking the official hand over of the Computer Sets attracted the presence of eminent personalities and stakeholders in the education sector.
