Huang Yi, former vice chairman of Yunnan Provincial Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference is on trial at First Intermediate People’s Court of Chongqing Municipality for taking bribes.
Huang was on Thursday, charged with accepting money and valuables worth 34.95 million yuan (about 5.09 million U.S. dollars), according to prosecutors.
He allegedly took advantage of his position to assist others on matters related to contracting construction projects, the approval of business programmes, and the operation of enterprises between 2001 and 2022, when he held various posts.
Huang pleaded guilty and expressed remorse.
A verdict would be announced in due course.
