An ex-militants’ leader, Mr Ramsey Mukoro, has advised the newly-appointed coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brig.-Gen. Paul Boroh (rtd), to be wary of sycophants as he faces the task ahead.
President Muhammadu Buhari on July 28 appointed Boroh as the Coordinator, Presidential Amnesty Programme and Special Adviser on Niger Delta to the President.
Mukoro, leader of the Niger Delta Ex-Agitators Solidarity Front (NDESF), said on Monday in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State that the appointment of Boroh was well deserved and commendable.
He applauded Buhari for ignoring the pressure to appoint self-seeking politicians and heeding to the yearnings of the Niger Delta people.
Mukoro noted that Boroh, an accomplished scholar on peace building and a military strategist, had all that was required to transform the Niger Delta region; and urged him to consult with relevant stakeholders on the way forward.

“We applaud the president for his show of sensitivity to the passionate appeal we made to him on the appointment of a competent hand to coordinate the amnesty programme.

“I will advice Boroh to avoid the selfish political class of the Niger Delta region that has used the Niger Delta struggle to enrich themselves at the expense of the people of the region.

“He has the experience and pedigree; and we shall support him to ensure that he meets the high expectations following his appointment,” Mukoro said.
