Ewi of Ado-Ekiti honours oil mogul, Olakunle Gidado (see pix)

On Saturday, 22nd November, 2025, the city of Ado-Ekiti was agog as people from all walks of life witnessed the glamorous installation of the Chairman of New Telegraph Publishing Limited and Oil Magnate, Chief Olakunle Gidado of Odo Aremu, Ado-Ekiti as the Adaralua of Ado- Ekiti Kingdom by Alayeluwa Oba Rufus Adejugbe Aladesanmi III, CFR

The historic event, in commemoration of Ewi’s 35th coronation anniversary and 80th birthday anniversary held at the open pavilion of the palatial palace of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti attracted family, friends and associates of the new Chief including Aremo Olalekan Gidado (Chairman, Nigeria Chemicals Limited), Mr Ayodele Aminu (Managing Director- New Telegraph Publishing Limited), Mr Niyi Afolabi (Managing Director, Alsden Construction Company Limited), Mr Olaniyi Atose (Chief Executive Officer, Koin Koin), Mr Niyi Gidado (Chief Executive Officer, Niyi Gidado and Company) and Mr Adetunji Tolani (Managing Director, Fountain Holdings Limited).

The Adaralua, who was clad in a well-tailored multi-colour hand-woven long robe, was honoured for his outstanding contributions to the growth and progress of Ekiti State which he has consistently championed through the Olakunle Oladapo Gidado (OOG) Foundation with award of education scholarships, bursaries and other initiatives to indigenes of Ekiti State in higher institutions.

The foundation also supported the state government during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A popular Lagos/Abuja socialite and international businessman, the newly installed Adaralua of Ado-Ekiti has promised to sustain his humanitarian gestures in the interest of the people of Ado-Ekiti and Nigerians at large.
