EPL: Frustrated Liverpool held as Pedro spares Chelsea blushes in home draw

Fulham and boss Alvaro Arbeloa claimed their first Premier League point of the season with a goalless draw at Liverpool on Saturday.
Less than 72 hours after the Reds defeated Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, Andoni Iraola’s side lacked the intensity and urgency they showed on Wednesday night as they failed to score for the first time this term.
Arbeloa came into this game under pressure, with Fulham having lost each of their first three league games since he took charge in the summer. But his side put in a solid away performance and could have taken all three points if they were more ruthless in the final third.
Fulham should have taken the lead early on when Jeremy Jacquet had to clear Gonzalo Garcia’s effort off the line after a mix-up between keeper Alisson and Ryan Gravenberch that was entirely Liverpool’s own doing.
The visitors were better in the opening half but failed to make it count, with Josh King’s effort from inside the box saved by Alisson, before Antonee Robinson headed wide.
Meanwhile, in-form striker Joao Pedro scored a second-half equaliser as Chelsea rescued a point at home to promoted Hull City.
The reigning Premier League Player of the Month curled a shot into the top corner in the 66th minute, but Chelsea were unable to find a winner.
Morgan Rogers had given Chelsea the lead in the seventh minute, but Hull went into the break ahead after Mohamed Belloumi scored twice.
But Joao Pedro smashed a left-foot equaliser inside the near post after an impressive low cross from the left by Cole Palmer in the 66th minute.
Shots from the edge of the box by Palmer and James threatened to add a winner for Chelsea, while Rogers had the best chance, saved by Tzolakis.
Hull remain third and Chelsea stay fourth in the table – having played a match more than half of the Premier League’s sides.
