The Technology Incubation Centre (TIC), Enugu has called on the Enugu State Government to provide them with access road, project van and entrepreneur site to enhance its development.
Manager of the Centre, Mrs Thelma Nwabueze, made the call when she led some members of the Centre on a courtesy visit on the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo, at the Government House, Enugu on Tuesday.
Nwabueze disclosed that the Centre had achieved a lot since she assumed office, attributing the successes recorded so far by the centre to Her Excellency’s support to the centre, noting that she has been the brain behind the Centre’s tremendous achievements.
She highlighted the successes made by the Centre so far to include training of 75 women on different skills like, Food, Yoghurt, Wine and Detergent production among others, ‘training 300 participants on entrepreneurship skills and talent development in Aug. 2019.
Nwabueze thanked the deputy governor for her support, saying, ” We wish to express our profound gratitude to Her Excellency, the deputy governor of Enugu State for always granting us audience.
”She did all these even in the midst of the heavy fear of COVID-19 spread where human contact needs to be reduced to the minimal.
”I see this gesture as a manifestation of your keen interest and deliverables of technological incubation programme which centred on human empowerment.
”It also centred on industrial development, revenue recreation and empowerment generation,” she said.
Mrs Nwabueze hinted that the centre has some challenges which included relocation of the graduated entrepreneurs after graduating them from the centre as they always face challenges of site relocation from groomed factory, lack of access
”We lack access road as the only road that linked to TIC is not accessible during raining season.
Responding, the Deputy Governor commended the members of the Centre for their efforts in developing intellectuals and urged them to strive to achieve the government purpose of creating the centre.
She gave the assurance that their request will be looked into and that she will make time and pay them a visit as they requested.
Ezeilo said that she will continue to identify with them to ensure that the government’s aim of establishing the Centre was actualised.
