The Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Chief Uche Ugwu, has described the establishment of 9th Mile Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (9CCIMA) as a healthy development.

Uche stated this when the President of 9CCIMA, Mr Leonard Ugwu led members of his Executive on a courtesy call to his office on Thursday.
The Speaker noted that the coming of 9CCIMA at this time when the State Government and the Senator representing Enugu-West Senatorial Zone, Mr Osita Ngwu, were doing much to develop the zone.
He promised to partner with the chamber on areas that would develop the senatorial Zone and Enugu State in general, stressing that 9th Mile Corner was strategic for socio-economic development.
Earlier, the President of 9CCIMA, Ugwu told the Speaker that the essence of the visit was to intimate him on the activities of the chamber.
The 9CCIMA pointed out that the body had been in existence for sometime now.
Ugwu said that the vision of 9CCIMA was to make the 9th Mile Free Trade Zone, an economic catalyst for Southeast geo-political zone.
“Making 9th Mile area an economic hub for Southeast geo-political zone will facilitate the harnessing of the benefits of 9th Mile Free Trade Zone for economic emancipation of the East.
“One of the things we pleaded to all of them is urbanisation of 9th Mile within 10km radius. This will help in speedy infrastructural development,” he said.
The 9CCIMA boss also explained the need to engage their unemployed youths in workshops, seminars and other entrepreneurial programmes to reduce crime and other anti-social vices.
He reiterated that 9th Mile was an emerging economic free trade zone in the southeast of Nigeria in the contemporary era.
“Facilitation of workshop programmes on concerting rapid transformation of 9th Mile was an excellent index towards an economic free trade zone in Southeast of Nigeria,” he said.

The President of 9CCIMA and his team had earlier paid courtesy call to the Ezeagu House Member, Mr Chima Obieze.
The leadership of the Chamber also visited the Enugu House Member representing Enugu North constituency who is also the Majority Leader of the state assembly, Mr Johnson Ani.
During their respective visits, the Chamber appealed for speedy growth of infrastructural development in Enugu-West senatorial zone.
The lawmakers promised to channel part of their constituency projects towards youths empowerment through the chamber.
