Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has appointed Mr Gabriel Ajah as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
The governor, who announced the appointment at a media parley on Thursday night in Enugu, also named Mr Sylvanus Onoyima as the Chairman of state Tenders Board and Due Process office.
He also appointed Mr Uwakwe Abugu of the New Telegraph as his Chief Press Secretary (CPS) and Mr Linus Amoke as Senior Special Assistant (SSA), Media.
The new SSG had served as permanent secretary in eight ministries in the state since 2001.
“This is the time for us to work, because the elections are over. We need to get the right people in the right places,” Ugwuanyi said.
The governor said that his administration would engage “most qualified people” to assist in running the affairs of the state, adding that he would constitute an Economic Council and a `Think-Tank’ to guide the state toward economic prosperity.

“Amidst the recent development in the oil sector, we need to find another route to create wealth by attracting investors to the state,” he said.

The governor disclosed that most of the projects he planned for the state were not captured in the 2015 budget, adding that he would send a supplementary appropriation bill to the state assembly to cover them.

He said that the administration would concentrate on “aggressive rehabilitation of schools” and other infrastructure needed for qualitative teaching and learning.

“In view of the growing population in some areas of Enugu, we intend to provide some amenities that will improve their living standard,’’ Ugwuanyi said.

The governor solicited for the support of the media towards repositioning the state for effective service delivery.
