Enugu DisCo begins maintenance, equipment upgrade in Trans-Ekulu

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) says it has commenced the maintenance and upgrade of its equipment in Trans-Ekulu axis of Enugu metropolis.
The Head, Corporate Communications of the company, Mr Emeka Ezeh, disclosed this on Thursday in a statement in Enugu.
He stated that the current power outage in the area was to allow for the ongoing transformer upgrade at the Trans-Ekulu Injection Sub-station, which affected Dhamija 11kv and Phase-Six 11kv Feeders.
According to him, the upgrade of the 7.5MVA power transformer to 15MVA, which commenced on September 9, will drastically improve the quality of service to the area, when completed.
He said the job would help to increase the capacity of the sub-station from 2×7.5MVA to 1x 15MVA and 1×7.5MVA.
“As a result of this exercise, our customers at New GRA, St. Mary, Dhamija, Upper North, RCC Quarters, Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, Sani Abacha, Ugbo Odogwu and Agu-Abor will be out of power supply during the period of the upgrade.
“The upgrade, including other maintenance, is expected to last until Saturday, September 12,’’ he stated.
Ezeh stated that the upgrade demonstrated EEDC’s conscious effort toward improving the capacity of its infrastructure and enhancing customer experience.
“We, therefore, regret the inconveniences this will cause our esteemed customers and assure them of better and improved services once this exercise is completed,’’ he further stated.
