Enugu Assembly disappointed over poor handling of projects at IMT

The Enugu State House of Assembly has expressed disappointment with contractors handling various projects at the Institute of Management and Technology, (IMT), Enugu.
The Assembly Committee on Education made their feelings known, in Enugu on Wednesday while addressing press at the end of supervision of ongoing projects in the institution.
The committee chairman, Mr. James Akadu, regretted that majority of the contractors failed to complete and deliver their work at stipulated time.
The lawmaker representing Igbo Etiti West constituency, while frowning at the absent of the contractors at site, threatened that the committee would not hesitate to blacklist such contractors doing shoddy jobs for the state.
According to him, the committee will also summon the erring contractors to explain to Enugu indigenes and residents why they were unable to deliver on the projects awarded to them after collecting huge sums of money from the state government.
On his part, the Director of Works and Services in the institution, Mr. Charles Ajah, said that he would intensify efforts to ensure that contractors handling the delayed projects fast tracked the pace of their works.
The director disclosed that the institution were accessing fund for the projects, especially through the Tertiary Education Fund (TETFund).
The lawmakers were conducted round the ongoing buildings including Exams and Records, Medical Centre, School of Communication Arts, Staff Offices at various level of completion.
