The Priest in charge of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Tedi, Lagos, Rev. Fr. Anthony Thompson, on Monday, urged the Christian faithful to embrace God’s word in order to guarantee a better future.

The priest made the assertion during his morning Mass message on measures to draw closer to God and make the best of the sojourn on earth

He said that, God was still speaking to humanity through the scriptures.

Thompson said that the act of reading the scriptures and internalizing its contents would aid faithful in their daily endeavors to be successful.

The Parish Priest charged people to embrace the word of God as made available to mankind in the Holy Bible as companion to assuage faithful of anxieties and draw people closer to God

According to him, the scripture is God’s correspondence to mankind that is meant to guide man to do those things that please God and refrain from those that displease Him.

‘Today in our society, it is becoming trendy for people to go to some places such as mountains, grooves and shrines with the intent of seeking God’s face and to hear from Him.

‘In the process, many fall victims of ritualists, swindlers and other social vices with horrible experiences as an outcome.

“Constantly go through the scriptures; God will speak to you concerning that situation you are facing and He will give you solution,” he said.

The Gospel preacher said the tradition of touring perceived sacred places might not be enough to achieve spiritual desires.

The people, especially during Yuletide, throng some places believed to be sacred to seek God’s face, atone for sins and to render supplications
