Former Managing Director of United Bank for Africa (UBA), Mr Tony Elumelu, has been nominated to address a select group of global industrialists at the White House in Washington D.C., the United States (U.S.) to celebrate emerging entrepreneurs around the globe.
The event, a statement issued by Tony Elemelu Foundation in Lagos on Sunday said, would be hosted by U.S. President, Barack Obama, on Monday.
According to the statement, the event is a prelude to Obama’s scheduled trip to Kenya in the summer for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.
Elumelu, one of Africa’s business leaders, the statement said, had been identified as one of the promoters of global entrepreneurs.
The Elumelu Foundation recently inaugurated 100 million dollars Entrepreneurship Programme, aimed at assisting in growing 10,000 start-up companies across the Africa over a decade.
The foundation said that the White House entrepreneurship celebration would bring established and emerging entrepreneurs across the world seeking the support and commitment of investors, governments, private foundations and individuals, together.
Speakers expected to join Obama and Eleumelu in the event, according to the statement, include Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks; Barbara Corcoran, founder of Barbara Corcoran Venture Partners.
Others are Daymond John, Chief Executive Officer and founder of FUBU; Antonio Gracias, founder of Valor Equity Partners and Julie Hanna, founder of Kiva.
