The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) women wing led by Hajiya Mariya Tambuwal, the wife of Gov. Aminu Tambuwal in Sokoto State has taken the party’s campaign rally to the Eastern Senatorial District of the state.

Speaking at the rally on Monday in Gwadabawa Local Government Area of the state, Tambuwal said the gesture was to recognise the invaluable contributions of women toward the success of any leadership.

“We are here to appreciate our mothers, friends, sisters and daughters for their love and support toward the success of PDP administration in our state.

“This is also to serve as an avenue to strengthen the bond between us and sustain our desire toward engaging leaders that will continue to serve our state better,” she said.

The governor’s wife, represented by Prof. Aisha Madawaki, the state Commissioner for Higher Education, urged women to prevent their children from engaging in violence at the March 18 Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections.

“We should not allow our children to perpetrate violence as the children of those deceiving them are always protected and trained for a brighter future,” she cautioned.

Also speaking, Hajiya Salamatu Bafarawa, the wife of the PDP Deputy Governorship Candidate Alhaji Sagir Bafarawa, called on women to rally more support for PDP across the zone.

Bafarawa assured them that the PDP, if victorious, will sustain Tambuwal’s dedication and commitment toward women and youths empowerment.

Earlier, Hajiya Kulu Sifawa, the state Commissioner for Women Affairs, appreciated the women’s participation during the Feb. 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections.

“This is a great development, as such we should do more in the coming elections in order to appreciate what the present administration did for women in the state.

“We have experienced a government that involve women in all it sectors and policy making, therefore, we should come out massively to reciprocate the gesture by voting all PDP candidates,” she said.
