Fashola: Technology crucial to sustainable development of settlements

Babatunde Fashola

Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), has enjoined the members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Election Planning and Monitoring Committee to intensify the mobilisation of voters towards party’s victory on February 16 and March 2.
Fashola, who is also the Director, Planning and Election Monitoring of the APC Campaign Council, made the call at the inauguration of the committee on Monday in Abuja.
He urged the committee members, drawn from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT to leave no stone unturned in the education of the electorate on the achievements of the Federal Government ahead of the Presidential and the National Assembly elections.
“You are going to mobilise people to vote, spending and exhausting your energy and resources; it is good you understand that we are on the home run and touchdown is on Saturday.
“If there is anybody in your constituency, in your neighbourhood who is angry now, go and beg him. We stand to gain a lot more together.
“If that person is hot water, you become the cold water so that we can claim the victory together.”
He expressed optimism that votes would count at the election and urged members of the committee to ensure that their votes were protected.
“It was our vote protection that gave us victory in 2015 and we must be ready to do more of what we did.
“Every one of you is not a follower and we must be clear about that, everyone of you is a leader and as leaders, we must take responsibilities.
“If there is any problem in your area, be ready to solve it, take responsibility and solve the problem; that is the hallmark of true leaders.”
Fashola commended members of the committee for their relentless efforts to ensure that their various wards, local government and states were delivered to the APC.
He urged the committee members to take control of their localities, adding that it was not possible for the leadership of the party to be in all the places.
“We cannot be in all of the places even if we wanted to be; so you are the next level of leadership that will take control of those places,” he added.
