The Ondo State Government, on Sunday, symphatised with the family of corps member, Ibrahim Okanlawon, who died in a boat mishap at Agadagba-Obon in Ese-Odo local government area of the state during Saturday’s State Assembly election.
The deceased, an ad hoc official of the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC), and his colleagues were said to be returning from Ward II in Agadagba-Obon after completing their duty before the ugly incident occurred.
Seven others, who survived the boat mishap but sustained various degree of injuries, were switfly taken to a community health centre in Ese-Odo.
The Deputy Governor, Mr Agboola Ajayi, who condoled the family, ordered that other victims of the boat accident be transferred to the Gani Fawehinmi Health Diagnostic Centre in Ondo town for treatment.
The deputy governor, who is an indigene of Ese-Odo, also directed the medical personnel at the hospital to give a proper medical care to the victims.
Speaking to newsmen, Ajayi, who was accompanied by the Ese-Odo Local Government Chairman, Mr Ojo Omolewa, said he was saddened by the death of Ibrahim.
He added that the nation had lost one of its talent and productive young man while serving his fatherland
Ajayi prayed that God would comfort them and that they won’t witness such calamity again
He also condoled with the management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), particularly in Ondo State.
The deputy governor also prayed for quick recovery of the victims who survived the boat mishap with injuries.
