The Ekiti State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project in conjunction with the Ministry of Education has embarked on a training Programme for the Management staff.
Ekiti State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Olabimpe Aderiye, who declared the event open, described the possession of Digital literacy skills as essential for participating in today’s job market stressing that almost every profession requires digital skills, from basic computer skills to more advanced skills.
The Commissioner urged participants to leverage on the training workshop to improve their proficiency in digital literacy stressing that the training programme was in tandem with Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s vision of a Digital Literate State.
She described the 2-Day training programme organized by the Ministry of Education on the platform of AGILE project in collaboration with SIDMACH Technologies Limited as timely, noting that Digital Literacy would go a long way in engendering effective service delivery in the Education Sector in the State.
The Ekiti Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project Coordinator, Mrs Yewande Adesua in her remarks said the World is moving at a faster pace technologically, stressing that Ekiti could not afford to be left out in this great initiative in order to stand tall with her counterparts across the world.
The SIDMACH Technologies Resource Team lead, Mr Solomon Awosika who tutored participants extensively on Computing devices, Introduction to Office Productivity and Cyber security tips enlightened them on how to align information to learning needs especially in a digital environment.
Another resource person from SIDMACH Technologies Ltd, Miss Faith Talabi, tutored participants on Digital Content Creation using Canva App to design posters and fliers that can be used to boost digital contents about the activities of the ministry to the general public.
In their remarks, Miss ModupeOluwa Abe, Mrs Adenike Ilesanmi and Mr John Akinyemi who participated in the training workshop appreciated the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji for the initiative to invest in management officers of the ministry, stating that the training workshop has availed them the opportunity to learn, unlearn and relearn the needed skills to fit in as the world advances technologically.
Participants for the two-day Digital Training initiative were drawn from State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Teaching Service Commission, Adult and Non Formal Education, Scholarship Board, State Library Board and the Ekiti State Board for Technical Education amongst others.

The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment, (AGILE) of the Federal Government, supported by the World Bank to improve secondary school opportunities for
adolescent girls in targeted areas in the participating States including Ekiti.
The Project aims to improve the cause of Girl-Child education in the Country by addressing issues such as Gender Based Violence (GBV), unwanted pregnancy, infrastructural deficits in secondary schools, religious, and socio-cultural norms/biases that restrict adolescent girls’ access to enrolment and completion of secondary education. This goal is aimed to be achieved through various strategies and interventions.
