The Eid-el-Fitri celebrations will be rosy for Ibadan residents this year as Nigeria’s foremost telecommunications company, Globacom, takes its flagship music show, Glo Mega Music Nationwide Tour, to the ancient city on Sunday.
The show that has attracted massive attendance at 10 locations across the country is slated to hold at the biggest hall within the imposing University of Ibadan Conference Centre, Agbowo, Ibadan.
Eight headline acts are billed to entertain the people of Ibadan. They include Olamide Adedeji, aka Olamide Badoo, Chinedu Okoli, popularly known as Flavour, king of ethno rap, Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, who goes by the stage name Phyno and the Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa, Inetimi Alfred Odon, aka Timaya.
The show will also feature the queen of afro-pop, Yemi Eberechi Alade; singer, songwriter and producer, Douglas Jack Agu, popularly known by his stage name, Runtown; Anidugbe Oluwadamilola Daniel, popularly known as Kiss Daniel and the popular performing twins, PSquare.
Globacom said the show will be anchored by Nollywood and Ghollywood queens, Uche Jombo and Juliet Ibrahim, while Nollywood legends, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Kanayo O. Kanayo (KOK) and one of the most celebrated Yoruba movie stars, Odunlade Adekola, will make celebrity appearances to give Globacom subscribers in Ibadan and environs total entertainment as they end the Holy Month of Ramadan.
It would be recalled that Globacom organised a massive comedy concert, Glo Laffta Fest in the same Ibadan in the first week of June. The company said bringing another show a couple of weeks afterwards ”is our way of delighting our customers, who in the first instance, are the reason why we are in business. But more importantly, it is a reward show for their continued and sustained loyalty to the Glo brand over the years as they will have the opportunity to interact and engage all the listed stars”.
Subscribers of Globacom who wish to attend the show are required to recharge their Glo SIM cards with at least N2,000 and send a text message indicating their preferred location to a short code, 207; for example, “MUSIC IBADAN’ to 207.
