The Diocese of Egba West, Anglican Communion, has immortalised the efforts of its pioneer Bishop, Dr. Samuel Olukunle Ajani, by dedicating a church building named after him at Awowo in the Ewekoro Local Government of Ogun State as part of activities marking the 11th anniversary of the creation of the Diocese.
Speaking while delivering the sermon at the dedication of the Bishop Olukunle Ajani Anglican Church, Awowo recently, the Bishop of the Diocese, Rt. Reverend Samuel Oludele Ogundeji, commended the pioneer Bishop for his vision and uncommon courage describing him as an indefatiguable achiever, a giver, a friend of all and an apostle of faith.
In the sermon titled “Dedication and Consecration as a means of manifestation” punctuated copiously with intriguing proverbs, Bishop Ogundeji urged christians to always examine their lives to ensure conformity with God’s instructions adding that they should always live holy.
He said there was problem in the church because many do not know how to give and noted that giving money to the church is a form of sacrifice which promotes God’s sanctification. Bishop Ogundeji urged members of the Diocese to learn from the life of Bishop Ajani by sowing in heaven and honouring God with our possessions. The Bishop also commended the Archdeacon of Oke Ata, Venerable Isaac Olaleye for his evangelistic fervor which birthed the church being commissioned.
Speaking in an interview, Bishop Ajani fondly referred to as “the pillar of faith” who retired as the Executive Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), thanked God for keeping him alive to witness the immortalization ceremony and reiterated his commitment to spend the rest of his life furthering God’s work through evangelism.
Dignitaries at the commissioning which also marked the 78th birthday of Bishop Ajani included the Bishop of Egba Diocese, Rt. Revd. Oludaisi Adekunle, Bishop of Ogori Magogo Diocese in Kogi State, Rt. Revd. Festus  David, the Alawowo of Awowo, Oba Olasunkanmi Tijani, the wife of the Oba of Akinale, Olori Aderonke Ogunleye and executive members of the Old Grammarians Society of CMS Grammar School, amongst others.
