The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Mr Emmanuel Okereke, the Director-General, National Taskforce to Combat Illegal Importation of Small Arms, Ammunition, and Light Weapons (NATFORCE) wanted.
A statement by Mr Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC Head of Media and Publicity and issued to newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja, said that Okereke is wanted for jumping bail.
It stated that Okereke, presidential aspirant on the platform of Nigerian Liberation Party (NLP), is being prosecuted by the EFCC under a six-count charge which included impersonation, forgery and obtaining by false pretence.
The anti-graft agency said that Okereke was arraigned on November 21, 2013 before Justice J.Y. Tukur of the FCT High Court, Apo, Abuja for allegedly forging a document belonging to the federal government.
According to the statement, the forged document is titled “ Restricted, Federal Government of Nigeria, National Task Force.’’
It said that Okereke and one Ishmael Nwogu wanted to use the forged document to induce the public to believe that NATFORCE was an agency of the federal government.
The statement said that Okereke was arrested with several incriminating items which included bullet proof vests.
It said that Okereke operated a syndicate which maintained offices across the country and defrauded unsuspecting members of the public by selling recruitment forms for N5,000 on the guise they would be offered FG job.
It urged members of the public with information on the whereabouts of Okereke to contact EFCC offices across Nigeria.
