Mr Moses Nomeh, Chairman, Ezza North Local Government Area (LGA) of Ebonyi, has described the conduct of the Governorship and House of Assembly polls as “smooth and orderly”.

Nomeh said on Saturday, that the process showed that the nation’s democracy is advancing.

The Council boss, who cast his vote at Ndufu Ogboji ward polling unit 006 in the area, advised that elections should not be seen as a do-or-die affair.

Mr Godwin Nwonu, a House of Representative member for Ezza North/Ishielu Federal constituency, at Polling unit 001, Eka ward in Ezza North, said the process was peacefully and urged politicians to shun violence.

In Onuofokuru Polling unit, Uburu community in Ohaozara LGA, Dr Daniel Umezurike, the State Commissioner for Health, also expressed satisfaction with the electoral processes.

According to Umezurike, the use of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) is a welcome development as accreditation and voting were faster and transparent.

“The BVAS has worked well compared to what happened during the presidential election. In my booth, the turnout was high.

“The voting system was hitch free, the outcome will be good. We believe in the rule of law and I commend the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),” he added.

Mr Simon Ogodolo, Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ogboji ward, in Ezza North, commended INEC on the new Electoral Law, saying that it was well followed in the elections.
