The Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC), Sagamu Unit Command, has advised motorists against night and early morning journeys to prevent mishap during the Easter celebration.
FRSC Sagamu unit Commander, Mr Taofiq Iyanda, gave the advice in an in an interview on Wednesday in Sagamu, Ogun.
The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 7 and Monday, April 10, as public holidays for Christian faithful to celebrate Easter after a 40-day fasting.
Iyanda said the advice became imperative because of those motorists who were fond of embarking on night and early morning journeys.
“The motorists need to consider the security situations, currently being experienced nationwide, to avoid falling victims of the insecurity circumstances.
“It is also to be noted that most of the road crashes occur at night and early morning due to poor visibility during this period,” he said.
The unit commander implored motorists to desist from violating speed limit and dangerous driving that could lead to road crashes during the Easter celebration.
He warned motorists against driving against traffic and driving under the influence of alcohol, saying that “FRSC personnel will be on the roads to apprehend any erring motorists”.
Iyanda said that the FRSC would be collaborating with other sister agencies, especially on Lagos-Ibadan expressway and Sagamu axis, to ensure prompt response to accident victims, controlling traffic grid-locks and removal of broken down vehicles.
He urged motorists to exercise patience and cooperate with the all traffic management personnel on the road to ensure sanity during Easter season.
Iyanda also enjoined them to ensure their vehicles were in good condition before embarking on any trip.
