Super Eagles Captain, William Troost-Ekong, has stated that the senior national team remained resolute on their demand for the outstanding bonuses and allowances being owed them by the Nigeria Football Federation.

Troost-Ekong stated that the players were all united to pursue the ongoing boycott to press home their demands.

He added that they were also ready and aware of the big match ahead against Gabon on Thursday in Rabat, adding that they will be ready to play the game.

“The players are all united on this. We will reach out to tell the world when a resolute is reached but for now, we don’t want to say more. Any other statements, claims or demands might not be from us but we will confirm once all is well.

“We are focused on the big match ahead but all we want and continue to do is to focus on the big game ahead.”
Meanwhile, a former Super Eagles captain, Austin Okocha, has said that despite all the brouhaha surrounding the team’s chances of picking a World Cup 2026 ticket, he is still optimistic it will be done.

Okocha said the Eagles might be in a difficult situation now but they could still grab the ticket the hard way despite the obstacles before them.

“I am aware of the difficulties and challenges before them but sometimes, the hard way could be the only way. They are faced with a tough situation now and they are not out, rather they can focus and come out of it.

“ We have the talents and Nigeria has come of similar difficult situations in the past and that is why I remain optimistic about the chances of the Super Eagles to grab the African playoff ticket and still go out to grab on of the available two at global playoff,” Okoch said.

The Eagles will have to beat Gabon on Thursday November 13 and go ahead to beat the winner of the Cameroon /DR Congo semis on November 16 in Rabat, Morocco.

The CAF Playoff winner will compete in intercontinental playoff billed to take place in March 2026 where two of the six teams will be through to the Copa Mundial holding in Mexico, Canada and the United States of America.
